Kuamen Ending Performance

2:30pm
14 February 2026

Join us at Yamamoto Keiko Rochaix, for a performance by exhibiting artist Kuamen, for the finissage of KUAMEN: Creep to the mic like a phantom.

Embodying some of the topics addressed in the exhibition, Kuamen will take the audience on a journey from silence to speech, from absence to assertion, from the ground up, in a movement, gesture, and utterance, concerned with care, connection, and remembrance.

Curated by Christine Eyene, KUAMEN: Creep to the mic like a phantom is titled after lyrics from Dr Dre’s 1992 track Nuthin’ but a ‘G’ Thang, featuring Snoop Dogg. The exhibition takes its cue from what the artist describes as “a revelation” when he was first exposed to hip hop in London as a 10-year-old. For Kuamen, this sonic revelation has been a lifelong connection to the music and its message of resilience, rebellion, and representation.

Born in London to Congolese and Mauritian parents, Kuamen is a poet, rapper, and multidisciplinary artist. His work explores Black life and Afro-diasporic existence from the Parisian suburbs (where he lives) to the streets of Los Angeles. It also highlights Black contributions across diasporic spaces and denounces persisting forms of injustice.

Following his first exhibition in Britain, Kuamen was also invited for a short residency at Exhibition Research Lab (ERL) in Liverpool, where is showcasing his research Mask in Mutation from 5 to 27 February.
